Question Are Radar Detectors legal in NY?

Just curious. I always thought they were, but my dad says he remembers seeing signs on the GWB entering NY saying radar detectors were illegal in NY. Just curious, cause I'm gonna be transfering to a store in NY and don't need to get any uneccasary tickets or lose my Radar Detector.

Thanks guys.

Maryland and Canada you can't have them...Truckers can't have them....otherwise you are fine. I never put mine up for the most part so I am trying to sell it.

I have heard others tell me about that sign and I have yet to see any that indicate that when coming from the PA line. They would have to post it there also.

Ya, New York they are legal. I may be wrong, but I think about 6 or 7 years ago they were illegal.

BTW, I've been pulled over before and had the officer laugh at the fact I have a radar detector yet he still busted me for speeding .

Canada, they are illegal...in fact if you get pulled over and the cop finds one, plugged in or not, he will destroy it on the spot.
