NJ DMV help

I will be going to college in Florida this August. My car is due for inspection this October. I might not be able to get a Florida driver's license because I will be living in a dorm room. Do you guys think that NJ DMV will let me have the car inspected before I leave?

They should, or you may be able to get it inspected in Fl, even with a NJ registration.

You can go through inspection the month before it is due so you can get it inspected in Sept. I'm not sure if they'll let it go through in August, but it's worth a try.

That's kinda a weird situation.

But are you afraid of getting an inspection ticket in florida? because I don't think they can do anything about it. But I'd call the dmv, they should know. If you can make it through like sept. 1st, that's prolly your best bet.

I can't see why they wouldn't. Maybe try re-registering the car in Florida?

Cool

do a search for NJ and FL DMV. in the FAQ sections are answers to out-of-state and in-state questions regarding residency, registration and inspection dos and donts as well as info on what is reciprocal and not.

Most states will honor a vaild out-of-state inspection as long as the out-of-state vehicle registration and insurance card is current.

you can go thru florida inspection. My brother has been stationed in NC for a long time, when his inspection was up he just ran it thru NC state inspection. I now have his truck while he is away. I was stopped at a road block on easter and they asked why I had a NC inspection. I explained the situation and they sent me on my merry way.

But to be 100% sure I'd look online atNJDMV or call them to find out. Its possible the cops at the road block let me go just because my brother is serving in Iraq...

Most states (i know for a fact NJ and NY do) have laws making sure your vehicle is inspected in your homestate. Yes they can do something about it... usually the fine is less than that for the instate car, but.. hey it still sucks.

I know you have to get your car inspected and you can get ticketed, but what I'm saying is, if your inspection is overdue, I don't think you can get a ticket for it out-of-state.
