New Best :)

Well, I finally put the nitrous to it today and ran 10.237 @ 140.40mph. Clearly, the car is capable of nines as the 60' was a pitiful 1.692. If I could just run equal to my best 60', which was 1.51, I would have been there.

I will not change the config to make it more of a drag car, though I do plan to run it as is again and see if it really will hit the magic 9.99. Still running through cats with air, full interior, etc. I weighed it at 3,890lbs, with my lard *** added it's over 4,100lbs, so overall I am pretty happy. Better conditions would have helped, it was fairly cool (65 degrees) but very humid and the barometer was low. The calculator indicates 865rwhp through the 4,200 stall converter, so the 1,000hp goal was certainly achieved.

congrats!!!
from teh sounds of it all you really need is a little bit better surface condition to get the job done. i would say if you get a 75degree and sunny day you could do it.
if you get you 60ft down to a low 1.5 you will prolly see a mid to high 9.8 considering your mph. that would be awesome for such a heavy car.

Congrats Rich! Care to post the whole timeslip? I am curious as to what the whole slip looked like. Trying to see how my slip compares and see how much more I need for the nines. That is some major mph for such a heavy car. That is def a 9 sec car with a good 60ft. BTW think I can hit 9's with another 50 hp shot of juice? (ran 150 in the sig and I'm stepping up to a 200 hit in a couple weeks)
Congrats again!

RT 0.532
60' 1.692
330' 4.431
1/8 6.695 @ 108.73
1000' 8.628
1/4 10.237 @ 140.40

Darn it, I wish I'd nailed that 60'! It was still pulling hard at the big end, a real rush

You should be good for 9's with another 50hp. What jets are you using? A big difference in my setup this time was that I went a little leaner. Still very conservative with fuel jets one size bigger than "optimum", but prior I was two steps bigger. These motors can get kind of expensive so I like to play it safe.

Right now I am using the jetting that NX gave me for a 150 shot 62 N 49 F. The fuel jet is big because it is for 10psi fuel pressure. I will be using Nx's recomendations for a 200 shot...I don't have them handy right now though. BTW you run about 4.8mph faster than me in the 1/8 so you are definately making the power. Hopefully, we can both hit our goals of getting kicked out of the track this year for running 9's---I have all the safety equiptment but no liscence yet And yes motors can be really expensive..lol

Alot of LS1 guys have raceweights in that area. Stephen Sanders was sub 3000 last I talked to him...I was once told by a bunch of those guys that a raceweight of 3450 was way too heavy!

God knows whats left of the car though.

Rich, that rocks man Sorry I couldnt make it to the track, I have been out of town for the last few days.

What size shot did you spray?

Riding in your car was some serious fun Thanks again for that! You should build yourself that race car now, and sell me your engine/blower setup

Jason: in your car, my combo would be low nines and near 150mph, easy . I would worry about you (going that fast and all), so I think I better keep it I am going to buy a race car at the end of next season. BBC, nitrous, and a 'glide.

I was running two #52 nitrous jets @ 950psi, which is approximately 100hp each (200 total). There were two 50hp jets in the car prior. The gain was more than expected, I think because I leaned it out a little. The mph jumped from 131 to 140. The calculated rwhp from that mph is 865! It's still pig rich though, so I could crank it up another notch easily. OTOH, Bob Metcalf was already giving me the eye after the 140mph pass, I think I am pushing the limits of what I can get away with at NYIRP.
