I can hardly wait, it must be killing you too.

Yeah I got a dyno time, June 12th at 9am. Yeah its killing me too. I just want to drive without starting smoke screens.

Believe me Im doing the orange RTV deal. Im going to put a REAL healthy amount on and go from there...

See ya at the starting line when were both said and done.

'Zat a challenge, son ?

NA on a budget v. FI on the money train? Kind of unfair, but then again a youngster like you has the advantage of quick reflexes. Still, the N20 should make up for my 1.5sec RT

I think it's gonna take more than a bike...kinda like bringing a knife to a gunfight. A turbo busa should do it though.

Don't kill me that fast Dave lol. I was thinking something like a ZX-7R to start on....should go 10s if ridden right...so maybe 13s for me

I could be wrong on the times though, basing the times off the newer 600R they have have not seen the review of a 7 but I know the Kawasaki are heavier with a bit less power so tend to be slower over all I think?

I am aiming for the 23rd test and tune at NYI. But it's a 50/50 proposition at best. There's so much new stuff that could cause a delay. The fuel system is probably unnecessarily complex for one thing. Two external pumps, one activated by a WOT switch is the basic idea. But it involves getting some fittings welded on the stock rails, entirely new lines, etc. New tranny, brakes, low-z Acceleronics box, etc.

Gives me a headache just thinking about it. What's amazing is how the project grew to be such a monster. As it was, I ended up pulling back from a couple of things before it got completely out of hand.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon, with or without car. I will be at NYI on the 23rd no matter what. My MOMS Mustang racing friends will be there, so I am gonna hang out even if I am not ready to run. We will be in the paved pit area. I will bring cigars if anyone wants to smoke one with me. IOW, I will be smoking something, either tires, a cigar, or both!

Cam is in!

Well, I'll share the good news with my FLFbuds (already told the Jpimp on IM) .

Cam is in the block, intake and fuel rails back on, and the timing chain is bolted on. Rockers barely cleared the huge retainers. I had to run a +.05 lock to get the install height high enough with my stock valves + 977s (running them right at 1.855"), so that didn't help clearance . Surprisingly, my 4770 locators needed ZERO grinding to fit the stock seats - BONUS!

Should get her fired up tomorrow!

Here are some pics from today:

Hotcam valve springs vs. comp 977 springs installed

Interior scent freshener

Everything is organized very carefully

This is a GTP6/stock heads experiment (235/242 .568/.592 - hence, the beefy hardware). Too big? Bad for a daily driver? Bad pick with stock heads? We'll see .

Thanks for reading .

Ryan: you sure do keep your "shop" well organized .

That is a big cam. I wonder how it's gonna work. Seems to me the relatively small intake ports on the stock heads will hamper high rpms, where this cam wants to live. Also, I don't know the detailed specs on your cam, but I assume it's got a fair amount of overlap. To really make best of it you probably need a higher than stock CR. Still, I'd guess you will see gains over a HOT cam.

Do you plan on dynoing it? Or at least post some before and after trap speeds. I'm curious.

Rich: I plan on dynoing it as soon as I am more comfortable tuning it. As of right now I'm running stock tuning, minus some small LT1edit changes (fans, cags, etc).I'm getting TONs of knock retard, bogging under 2500rpms, and a bit of cam surge. Obviously, it needs tuning bad.

I will definitely have some traps speeds to share. Before the cam I was trapping 107.5mph with 4* knock retard/85* ambien tempt/Houston Raceway. Here's a pre-cam mod list - scroll down a little

fwiw, I haven't noticed any increase in power just yet (kept it below 4k so far).

The fuel rails really gave the car a nice smell!

I will keep you guys updated! I'd love to move up there, but winter racing at HRP is hard to give up .
