Dave: be good to see you back in an F-body!

As of yesterday I finally decided on a winter course of action. Bob, Joe, and I had a long conversation with Jim Salemi (owner of G-Force Race Cars) at Bob's shop yesterday. He can make a strong, legal cage that will still be useable on the stree. It will utilize a swingout on the drivers side so my ancient back can get in and out. Joe's car will get a full cage in January and when it's done, mine will follow his over to Salemi's shop in Tonawanda(http://www.gforceracecars.com/).

Meanwhile, the motor is coming out. I will have a new shortblock built, have some head work done, and put it together with a new custom cam. The tranny is going to D&D for the Viper output/input shaft upgrade and the clutch to McLeod to be refreshed. I already have the C5 brake kit and the 1LE suspension parts - just need to decide on shocks. I will be buying a set of 15" wheels and 28" slicks. Then, it I will be ready to step up to a 300hp nitrous shot .

Last time on the dyno, the car made 597rwhp without the nitrous and 722rwhp with. I figure 650/950 with the new combo. So nines are the goal whil maintaining full emissions and good street manners. The transmission is suspect, but I really want to stay with it and go to the TH400 only if absolutely necessary.

Should be a fun year for me. I hope it is for all of us!

Happy Thanksgiving.

Well, I hope you choose a date far in advance, it'd be nice to see the old face and meet some new ones! I will be there if at all possible.

Unfortunatly Sunday's dont work for most of the guys here....so we like to keep it to friday's and saturdays.

Rich, tell me what date(s) you are available in January and I will setup the meeting on a date that we forsure know you can make it!

Did you get ahold of Mark on doing additional work to your heads yet?

Jason: as soon as I have a Jan. clinical schedule (within a day or two) I will let you know. I haven't talked to Mark, as the motor won't be coming out of the car until the first week of January. At that time we will do a leakdown. If it's very good, I may just leave the shortblock alone. In that case, I will have an easier time justifying big $$$ on head work. If the shortblock tests good, I also may sell it (someone is interested) OTOH, if a new shortblock is in order, I will be inclined to go easy on the heads. So it makes sense to talk to Mark (or whomever) after I know just what my budget is.

I have decided to keep the T56 for now. Just unsure about how to upgrade it. There's a guy having an upgraded main shaft made up of a steel called 300M, supposed to be very strong. I don't know whether to try this or go with the Viper sahft. Any thoughts?

I am already excited about next year. "Nines" has such a nice ring to it
