Re: East Coast Nats Has A Date!!!!!
Hey Tim you know I'll be there. My car is no looker so i think I stick to the bracket racing
I would love to dabble in a little heads up racing if my car stands a chance... I may be toying with a little N2O by then but we will just have to see about that.

Re: East Coast Nats Has A Date!!!!!
well, teh car is better lookin than teh owner at least
j/k
we are toying with teh idea of heads up. jsut that it is hard to come up with rules that will include a lot fo people. seems like heads up is soooo specialized anymore that any set of rules will offend many adn leave others bitching that the cars in the class are too fast(as if there is such a thing as too fast
)
i recomend that everyone check teh board regularly for updates. the first month or so of planning is when the most thigns change adn we need the most feedback.
this event is being run for enthusiasts, not profit. your opinions do make a difference.

Re: East Coast Nats Has A Date!!!!!
yeah even a wrecked f-body is better lookin than me
Heads up classes are tough to do. especially if you want to have a wide variety of cars. Have you thought about just something like an 10.0 and 12.0 index race and/or go off of a pro tree? There are pros and cons to it but its just alot of fun and you can still include wide variety of cars in it. Might be worth looking into.
Or you could break the classes down to 3-4 classes of bracket racing. 2 radial tire classes, a slick tire class and maybe a power adder class. Then have 1 open comp class off of a pro tree... or something like that...
Whatever you come up with I will find a place to stick the new and improved ProjectZ.

Re: East Coast Nats Has A Date!!!!!
we are starting with the same bracket classes that we based the second year of the old nats on. true radial, drag radial, slick/cheater slick, and 6cyl.
i would love to see a heads up class. the rules are only half th problem. so many heads up guys won't even show up unless there is a serious prize fund. so unles we find at least a strong sponsor for the class i doubt teh rules will be an issue.
i will work on it, maybe some sort of 10.5 tire + nhra safety + do whatever the hell you want through mufflers rules woudl be fun
we just got teh club t-shirts posted up for sale, next is to create the forum for the event and we will be good to go

Re: East Coast Nats Has A Date!!!!!
OMG Aug 14th. What am I to do. No points races that day at the Grove or ATCO. Guess I have to show up.
I'll be bracking racing with either the teal car or ragtop depending on the class rules. How about allowing cars to run both brackets and a heads up 10, 11, and 12 index race (extra cost to the racer , ie buys 2 tech cards). Or for that matter letting you run 2 brackets like drag radial and slick tire classes (again paying for 2 tickets). It would be fun to run my 15 second ragtop on drag radial against 10 second slick tire cars.

Re: East Coast Nats Has A Date!!!!!
hey gang,
could you guys check out the site adn give me a little feedback on the classes that are proposed. we are looking to get started finalizing the rules for heads up and the bracket classes asap so that we can submit them to the track for final approval.
class layout is pretty simple and the names pretty much say it all:
"street" car heads up
true street radial bracket
drag radial bracket
slick/cheater slick bracket
V6 bracket
the format of teh generals are posted as well as teh outline of teh heads up rules. let me know if there is anything that needs to be added/subtracteed from teh rules to make the event more enjoyable.
thanks

Re: East Coast Nats Has A Date!!!!!
They look pretty bood but my first question is How many back halved cars are licenced and insured to drive on the street? And F-bods to boot.... If its back halved then it probably wont meet the tire requirements.
I'd start off with saying back halved cars should not be in a "street" type heads up race. Besides that I think it would be fun to watch some real street machines go head to head.

Re: East Coast Nats Has A Date!!!!!
Sort of an odd combination in heads up... allowing back-half cars, but no "W" or 11.5 tires.
Somewhere I still have a "word" file of the rules for the "Fastest F-Body" events from back in 2001..... would you like a copy of those?
Looks like I've got to get off my lazy a$$ and get the Formula out of the garage this year.

Re: East Coast Nats Has A Date!!!!!
we are getting a lot of feedback about the tire size rules and people wanting an open heads up.
the idea of adding "w" tires to teh mix makes sense since so many cars taht run in other "street" series allow them. so i am sure a lot fo you guys already own sets.
as far as teh backhalved car thing goes, there are a ton of registered back halved cars around. but i don't think we can really get away with allowing them unlimited tires if so many cars woudl be limited by stock wheel wells. seems that woudl create an unfair class with only a few cars that woudl have any shot at winning.
the fear of creating an all out run what ya brung rules package is that so few people bother to participate from my past experiences. most fo the peopel who woudl run in a slightly limited heads up class woudl avoid an open heads up because they feel they can't compete.
basically we need to have rules that will fill a bracket of at least 8 cars or we woudl consider the rules a failure. with a small start up event and small if any prize fund i doubt we coudl fill an open heads up.
does this make sense or am i way off base?

Re: East Coast Nats Has A Date!!!!!
I completely agree with Jim and Fred. If you do a heads up it should just be a run whatcha brung... or you need to start imposing rules to keep it "street" oriented. I personally think its a good idea. Just need some refinement of ruling to make it "street". You dont back half a car to run a 10.5 tire ya know?
Maybe there are back halved cars on the street in your neighborhood but I sure dont see any around here. And with a small purse you wont attract the big dogs to come out and play.
I see you points with the tire size issue but you gotta go 1 way or the other. you cant go down the middle. Either allow a full blown back halved race car or not at all.
As an example I would love to enter a heads up race just for the fun of it. I am by far not the fastest but I alreay dont fit the rules by running a 11.5 tire.
