ZR-1" on Z-28?

I am planning on picking up my 17x9.5 ZR-1's this weekend and I have a few questions for those who put them on a Z. I was told I need a piece to go behind(underneath) the bump stop. Does anybody know a part # or where I can get them?

I am getting them off a guy from another board very cheap. According to him they are the optional set available with his 96 SS which he has sold. he said they have BFG R1 tires. Does this all sound kosher? I don't want to get taken since I have to drive 4.5 hrs to get them as part of the deal.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think you should need anything to put them on your car. My friend has rims off a 97 SS on his Z and they bolted right on no issues.

Most people don't need the jounce bumper spacers. Try it without them (IMO, they only decrease suspension travel). If you happen to need them, you can get them from SLP.

Do you race your car? If you do you should know the ZR1 wheels are quite a bit heavier then the stockers...it will make a difference...just a little FYI...

They'll also look dang sweet though...

I've heard a few people say how much heavier they are than stock wheels. I weighed my 17x9 ZR1's with a 275/40/17 Nitto on it and it was 46lbs. Also weighed my salad shooter with a 255/50/16 BFG dr and it was 45lbs? Unless my scale was broken that's not a big difference to me. Maybe the big difference everyone talks about is when going to a 17x11 ZR1, but 17x9's weren't much heavier than stock.

My 17x11 AFS replicas, with 315/35 BFG DR's are about 50#. The stock 16X8 w/ 245/50 GS-C's were about 45#.

Nahh 2lbs isn't much difference at all...I was comparing with the TA wheels which are either 3 or 6lbs lighter than salad shooters from what I gather...46lbs is almost dead on for what I've read for the ZR1 wheels...46-47lbs so I bet your scale is ok...the TA wheels with tires are supposedly in the mid/upper 30's...but thats just what I"ve read on here so I can't speak for 100 percent certainty. 36 and 38lbs are the numbers that stick out...I would assume your scale is right on and if its only 2lbs I'd go ZR1 wheels cause it'll look sweet.

I have AFS 17x9.5 rims on my car. 45-46 pounds sounds about right! I went from the factory 16's to the 17's and they bolted right in (after removing the bumpstop). Enjoy your new rims!

Later,

Mike
