ZO6 MAF....Worth it?
ZO6 MAF....Worth it?
My MAF is on it's way out, so I'm in need of a new MAF. I saw the ZO6 MAF at LS1speed, and saw it was a good price. Is this a pretty decent MAF, would it throw any codes? Would it be an improvement over stock? I know it's bigger, but would it make a difference? Thanks.

but DONT port it!
For REPLACEMENT purposes the Z06 one is good, I mean it's 1/2 the price of a GMS or GM Stock replacement, well the LS1speed is 1/2 the price.
It's a larger MAF, and will flow more air, but if you buy the one from LS1speed.com it's prettymuch plug and play. You can also get the GM Replacement part but then you will need your PCM programmed and a pigtail adapter.

i installed one on my Z for about a month (till i totalled it). it seemed top make a difference on the top end...didn't notice anything around town. it threw no codes and caused no hesitation problems or anything like that.
for the price compared to stock replacement...not a bad idea
got mine 2nd hand but brand new...so it was a decent deal for me.
oh and i already had a ported/descreened unit (GMS composite maf ends).

Its a tight fit, but it works fine.

I have a K&N CAI. I used a rubber 4" to 3" reducer, to connect the CAI to the MAF, then the rubber piece that came with the MAF slide over the 3" of the reducer and the end of the MAF. The elbow slide over the other end of the MAF. No problems at all so far, no codes or anything. I do agree though don't descreen it, my stock MAF was descreened and I had a bad idle and stumbling problem.
Well, I'm not going to get into the descreening thing here... no one listens to me about it anyway
but for MOST application I wouldn't recommend removing the screen....
I have... but I have reasons on my intake setup to warrent the removal....
also the true '02 Z06 MAF does NOT come with a screen... I wonder why?.... look at the intake track... look at a WS6 intake track... notice a similarities? that's why I removed my screen...
But most CAI's should leave in the screen.... but I know that people will argue that point... but hey... my BS in Engineering I guess means nothing
