Talking A new twist on ZO6 wheels on an F-body?

Okay, just between you and I...

I picked up a set of ZO6 wheels today and I hope to be able to put them on before I put the car away for storage in a week or so, but there is one small problem...

...I do not like the Corvette center caps. Not so much of a problem...I know that the center caps from later models of Camaro 10-spoke wheels will fit on a ZO6 wheel, just like they did on the ZL1 prototype. So, that's what I was going to buy (and probably still will, I just wanna throw an idea out...).

I got to thinking...

Would it look dorky if I got some of the machined center caps from a 35th Anniversary Camaro SS and had the faces of the spokes on the ZO6 wheel machined similar to the 35th wheel? Would that look goofy?

If anyone actually does this in the future, you just remember that I came up with it first...

...unless it is a really bad idea and then you can say someone else came up with it.

Anyway...what do you guys think?

I don't think it would look bad, but I don't think it would look particularly awsome either, not worth the money at least.

I think that WOULD look awesome . I love the machined look over chrome , polished or painted . Definately would be unique and COOL

Could anyone photoshop it. It may look better if you do something black on the inside of the wheel like the 35th's have if you know what im talking about. But ya, it would probably look pretty good. Verrrry unique.

When I had my Z06 wheels repaired early this year at a local wheel shop (Panther) they told me how they had done several sets of factory Z06 wheels for someone in the U.S. who was reselling them after having them refurbished (if needed), painted silver, the face of the wheel machined, then the whole thing clearcoated. That should look sharp.

Mine are silver, so I use the factory centercaps.

Damn...wish I could see a pic of what it looks like.

That is what I will do for now. The caps seem to be hard to find. How well did the color of the caps match the wheels? Do you have the '01 ZO6 wheeels or the '02 (slightly lighter in color) ZO6 wheels?

Hey, on a related note, will those centercaps work on 2000 C5 replica wheels and/or does anybody make them in polished?

My silver that my Z06 replicas are painted with is not exact, but close enough to pass a quick inspection with the factory silver caps. See the pic at the bottom of my web page.
