Provide more details; was it running fine up until now and all of a sudden starting doing this? Have you changed anything lately (pulled the intake off). Has the car been maintained;tune-up in the last 30K miles or so? All of this would help us help you. Try unplugging the MAF sensor and see if it will start.

I had a similar problem with another vehicle and it turned out to be the ignition switch. Do your gauges light up when you turn the key to the ON position? The electrical portion of the ignition switch might be worn out so that when the key is in the ON position your ignition is not getting the power it needs, but when the key is in the START position the contacts are still good and the ignition works for a second until the key is turned back.

Exactly like you said, once i turned the key to the on position usually all my lights would come up and make this lil noise then the ses light would light up and then bam i would start my car........but now its like i have to turn it a lil bit further then normal "on" for all my lights to pop up on the dashboard......soo how do i fix this ignition switch and where is it located??? thanx a bunch

Good luck on the Chevy ignition switch, I have no clue how it goes together.

You should try to make sure this is the problem before ripping the steering column apart. Turn your ignition to the ON position where your gauges light up, then somehow short circuit the starter solenoid to get the motor to turn over while the ignition is on.
