Z28 or Trans Am
Re: Z28 or Trans Am
I don't know about that. I get far more complements from women in my Camaro SS than I do in the T/A. I've been lucky enough to own all of them. I alway wanted a TransAm by always found better deals on Camaro's. I bought my SS practically new and I don't think I will ever sell it. I finally swapped cars enough to trade into a T/A and love it but the front of the SS look looks like it means business. I like the rear of the T/A better especially with my 11's on it. But like others have said the front is bland. I guess that will change when I find a hood or do a conversion.

Better or worse than a Formula/Ultra Z? (Ignore the dirt, the snow was melting)

I've never heard of anyone referring to a Trans Am looking like a catfish if in fact that is what you were implying. But I have heard alot of people refer to the LS1 style Camaros as looking like a fish
I love the LT1 Camaros but definately think the ls1 WS6's/Firehawks are the best looking F-body GM has produced since the late 60's. So I definately agree if your going with a 93-97 then get a Z28 or SS. If you get a 98-02 get a WS6 or Firehawk.

I think 98+ TA's had a slightly higher HP rating because of the ram air which does absolutely nothing until about 100mph, where it may add 1 or 2 HP
The camaro makes up the 2 HP through the entire power band by being much lighter.
Re: Z28 or Trans Am
Personally I think the 98-02 WS.6's are a bit over the top. I got my car because it is aggressive, yet clean. The only other F-body that I would own would be a 96-97 SS, as the 98+ look terrible from the front IMO. In the end, its all your own preference, and don't drive a car that someone else likes.
Re: Z28 or Trans Am
i honestly am not too hyped up on the camaros body. i love the trans am/formula bodies. they look so much more agressive IMHO!
stealth twin turbos are pretty quick. same thing with 3000gt vr-4'.
the rear end of a trans am with the wing looks sweet, especially with blackouts on a black car and inlets.
the predator hood and ws6 hatch on 97 trans ams/formulas look sweet as hell.

98+ WS6 look A++++ with Ground effects (West Wings) But i don't know i just love the look of my TA with the RamAir Hood (like new WS6) maybe it's just the fact that it's mine. just look around and see what you like.
PS. SS look super sweet.

Re: Z28 or Trans Am
When I first saw a 94 Camaro I was like wow, then I saw a Trans AM and I almost $hit myself, I could not belive that it was the same type of car, I fell in love in every day, I thought God came down and built the design, it is a timeless design and the interior is A+++, when they came out road and track gave the TA 5 stars for the interior and like 2 starts for the camaro, plus the lovely all around look of the TA 93-97 or 98+ in black makes my heart melt, I althought thought and always will think that these cars look better then any other car ever built, they are the perfect look, I can not belive that I can afford one either.

I never liked the front end of the Trans Am with all the puffy bulging shapes in the front. I do like the inset of the fog lights though. I like the rear of the Trans Ams better than the Camaros. Although I never cared much for the "spiderman" light covers - a little cheesy. I go back and forth on the subject. You start modifying the exterior of the Camaro and you got sleeker looking cars like Brent F's and all those other cool looking Camaros. A "fish" does not come to mind when I see their cars. I don't see many aesthetically modified Trans-Ams that I say, "wow" now that is cool. I agree that the WS6 look very nice. I never liked the "fly" headlights of the late model Camaros. As mentioned before, you can do so much more aesthetically with the Camaros hood that look better than anything you can do with the Trans Ams IMO.
If this looks like a fish then I don't know what to tell ya.

LS1 TA WS6
LT1 SS
LT1 Trans Am (because you can put on the LS1 front end)
LT1 Z28.
If i had known you could bolt on the newer front end so easily i would of gotten an LT1 TA. The LS1 TA wasn't an option for price and insurance reasons.

As far as the T/A goes, it looks best in its silver and black colors. They got to be dropped an inch or so and blacked out tinted windows. Some nice rims with a somewhat aggressive ram air hood. And dont forget on the T/A's you get an awesome looking rear spoiler and cutouts for the pipes. Then with the T/A's interior, you got to have some black/dark grey leather seats. Dont forget that its setup with a decent stock stereo so you can rock out to some "Stranglehold" while your cam is got that sweet lope sound going on as your racing down the highway chasing down a rice rocket so that you can wipe the smile off the guys face
. Did I get carried away just then...??
Sorry about that! Needless to say, my vote goes to the T/A's.
Reguardless, I think you'll be happy with either choice. Go with the body and interior style that you like the best. If that doesnt work, flip a coin.
BTW: does this still belong in LT1 engine tech?

it was the older 70's ish camaros that are fishy looking, the pictured ones above are very nice, i once owned a 76 camaro, door handles and mirrors rusting off , i was too young to stop the rust the right way, that car just pissed me off, i would like one of the newer ones now , but my ram air does me well
