C5 Brake Conversion for rear brakes - possible?

Hey all,

Looking into using Nashville Speed's (http://www.nashvillespeed.com) C5 brake conversion kit to change out my front brakes to those of the C5. Now I know that 70-80% of the stopping force from our cars comes from the front brakes, but I would like to make this a complete conversion.

In this I would like to adapt the C5 rear rotors, single piston caliper, etc. to the rear.

Articles indicate that one would have to change out the rear spindles with that of an LS1 Camaro for this to work.

Let me hear your thoughts on this.

BTW -> A thank you goes out to all past writers that have given props to the C5 conversion. I was very close to doing a full conversion to Wilwood, but after the poor writeups on Wilwood, C5 looks like the way to go!

Well first off, it's Z06 not Z05.

Secondly, for most applications, the rear brakes are sufficient.

Also, I believe that the C5 rear brake rotor is 14", so you will need 18" wheels to fit them.

The C5 rear brakes are basically the same as the LS1 F-body rears, so if you want them really bad it is easier to swap out an LS1 rear end.

If you want the front brake conversion, you better act soon and e-mail Bob Bishop on a set of the brackets. Nashville Speed went out of biz last year and Bob is only making 1 more batch of 20 sets of adapter brackets before he "retires" from making them.

How long does a typical batch last? As in, how long does it take for them to sell? I want to buy a set, but I won't be able to for about a month. If I can't get them in time, would be have the measurements so I could get someone else to make them? Thanks a lot.

Well he doesn't "stock" them for sale, he takes names and once he has 20 names he has a batch made. Over 10 of them are already spoken for last time I talked to him.

FYI Nashville Speed is my old company, I used to sell the brackets in a complete kit, which is why the info is still up on the website.
