Im using the SPEC stage 3 carbon and it hasnt missed a beat.....it has about 30 passes on it now on Nitto DRs. Not to bad on the street either once you break it in and get use to it.

3:42 will be a good gear for nitrous and a stroker. I have trouble with traction with the 3:73s. As long as you dont run ET streets and the like the stock rear will hold for a good while .

Drive shaft and tranny are not usually a problem...rear will go before they do. My posi is hurtn right now.

Want be a problem to bang out 12.xx with that combo.

Compared to stock it engages high, hard, and quickly.....takes some getting use to but its very managable after break in. The first 400miles are pretty rough.....lots of chatter but it settles down nicly after that. It does what I got it for ......hold the hp and tq of a stroker with a 150 shot....Im happy with it. Dont know about the stage 2.

Definatly too small of a cam ... lol that one might pass the sniffer on a stroker motor ...

I say go a little bigger ...

Thanks for the input guys ! I'll try it with the hotcam for now, as budget does not allow me to purchase another cam just yet...
we'll see how it does and then if i find the need i'll just change the cam!

It passes in a stock displacement engine.

with light head porting the hotcam would be ok, but you would get alot more out of it with a bigger cam, I run the XE 230/236 with my 383 (lightly ported LT-4 heads) and i'm shifting at 6500 and It feels like its still not hitting peak power. You really dont need to do dish pistons to run spray on that motor. Even with 54.5 CC combustion chambers you could get a flat top somwhere in the high 10s for compression and have no problem with a shot up to 150 or so. I run flat tops with 11.1 CR and I run 40 degrees of spark advance with 0 detonation, even on 92. I plan on spraying 75- 125 next year.

If you do the math I belive you will find that flat tops(-5cc) with 54.5cc chambers and zero deck will be well over 12:1. Im running the 16cc dished with 56cc chambers and zero deck and Im at 10.8:1

I suppose it would depend on the gaskets used the size of the valve reliefs the deck clearance and the compression height. I did the math 2 years ago and got 11.1

Ok, thats all true.....I was just saying put all info in a calculator and run it.....I come up with 12.4:1 with a .042 head gaskets ,zero deck , 55cc chambers, and -5cc flat tops. I dont know what your numbers were.
