Yet another question on Opti

Had a low rpm miss on my car, usally under 3000 rpm.. Changed out the plugs, checked all wires which ended up not to be the case, even changed out the coil just to be on the safe side and still the miss..Had a bud of mine run a dio useing a snap on code scanner, and read that there was an intermittent missfire in #5 , and #6.. Now mind you no codes were set and the car ran fine 1 second then the missfire just appeared the next.. The car is a 97 Camaro and has 62,000 miles on it and has the stock opti in it.. So my question to guys is, is it the cap and rotor, or the whole opti assy? Any help would be helpfull

Re: Yet another question on Opti

Can't say for sure, but I can say that I had the same exact problem with the intermittent missing and no codes being set. I am in the middle of changing my opti right now and the problem I had was someone had put a new cap and rotor on my old opti( I know this because the cap was a vented new style cap on my first gen opti) and one of the screws holding the rotor on had come out and was bouncing around inside.
