y2k struck my pcm!

Okay, so I did a little work on my 95 maro' which included cam, injectors, cai, cat back (although no cats), headers, heads, pcmforless tune, lt4 knock module, adjustable accel fuel P. reg. new knock sensor, new temp sensor sending unit (broke it removing the exhaust manifold), new plug wires, opti has less then 5 k miles on it, new clutch.
After all the work was done I let the car run through 3 heat cycles while still on the stands, it started right up ran great with a few quick revs, I was having eargazms. Big day came for the first drive and it was going great. I didn't go far the first drive incase something happened I can push the car home =) but it went great. The next day I thought I'll take it out on the highway and see how the foot to floor experience feels. It went great for a bit, the exhaust tones were good as those wild one night stands but only until the car warmed up. Once it hit 180 (it stayed there to) it started to act up, I would push the gas petal and it wouldn't accelerate then all of a sudden it would just launch like a bat out of hell (think I got whiplash there once). What can cause a surge like this I never ran into an issue like this? I recall the smell of gas being bad but I think the cylinders were getting over loaded.

You're likely going to need to run a scanning program to figure out exactly what the PCM is up to when it does this unless you just get really lucky with a guess. Personally I would ditch the aftermarket regulator and put the stocker back on.

Re: y2k struck my pcm!

Coolant temp sensor in the water pump can lead to over fueling. You can either replace it outright or hook a scanner to the obd port to see what temp the p is seeing. Two things, use only an AC Delco sensor and don't rely on the dash gauge to tell you the temp that the PCM sees as that uses a separate sensor....

Good luck!

Great, now I need to find one since EastCoastSupercharing no longer supports LT1s. How much fluctuation is there in the FP on WOT operations?

Check the intake elbow ("bellows") for a tear, or the bottom edge not being on the throttle body.

I went thought the obvious many times but I sent out my pcm to have it recalibrated for the new cam since it changed during the build. I just wanted to eliminate the possibility of it being cam surge. Should have it back Saturday latest Monday and see what happens.
I'll double check the firing order, check and make sure the plug wires have good contact, replace the temp sending since it's only a few dollar item and maybe the knock sensor, I might of over tightened the knock sensor. It really sounds like the timing is jumping, it has not backfire so I can almost rule out firing order or bad wires plus it runs smooth (well as smooth as a 110lsa can). The car starts right up hot or cold on first try. I'll also have to look into maybe fuel pressure as mentioned above it might be the regulator. I checked the FP when I started it looked healthy right at 43-44 psi. I attached the gauge to the schrader valve and I can't see it during WOT as to what it's doing, but on the revs parked it was fine.

route the guage on to the windshield and pin it down with the wiper...take a passenger with u and have them watch it while u drive it.

It's common practice for short-term diagnostic purposes to temporarily tape the gauge to the windshield for a few minutes while going for a drive.

It's also rude to insult other people's diagnostic methods especially when it's been done by just about everyone for YEARS.

If he feels that I insulted him then I am sorry, however by saying that "I am to **** for" doesn't imply or say anything aimed towards him, simply that "I" disprove.
