Y pipe ? with Jet Hot LTs
Y pipe ? with Jet Hot LTs
im going to be getting my jet hot LTs soon, and one of the guys i talked to from F.A.S.T. engineering said that the stock Y wont fit up to it. Is there any other Y pipe besides the jet hot that will fit? ( i really dont want to spend another 300 on more exhaust parts. I ve also put an offroad pipe with a elec cutout where the cat is supposed to go. How much do u think a custom Y would cost? Any suggestions good or bad would be great! thanks
Re: Y pipe ? with Jet Hot LTs
I have the coated Jet-hot y-pipe and I also have a DMH cutout on it. Works fine.
You can have one custom made ($100-$150) and there is a mufflex y-pipe available too, but the Jet-hot one is cheaper.

A cutout will pretty much be loud anywhere you put it. I don't think you can get an uncoated Jet Hot y pipe...I have tried getting one by calling them and a sales rep. said they only sell the Jet Hot coated ones. You can probably get a uncoated "Hooker" y pipe *same thing* for about 170. I paid 230 for mine from marylandspeed.com, and got a Jet Hot coated y pipe that was here in 2 days.
When installing them, be aware that the Jet Hot headers have perfectly round 16 gauge tubing. It really limits the space for tightening down the new header bolts which are 11mm. The drivers side was the easiest, but I strongly suggest you jack up the passenger side motor to get this one in. I had to remove the heat shield as well. Also, when you mount the passenger side header, don't tighten it down all the way until the #2 spark plug is all the way in with the boot on it. It will be an absolute NIGHTMARE if you wait till after the headers are in to put the plug and boot on. I usually see problems with the #5 and #6 plugs sitting right on the header tubes, so if possible try to tie back the wires *if you don't have OTVC* with zip ties, it works like a charm. Also be sure to take off the plastic steering column knuckle, as the headers WILL melt it. I know a lot of people who have had to jack up the passenger side of the motor to have clearence for the drivers side y pipe, as it may be too close to the floorboard.
Not sure if this was your first header install, or if you ever worked with their headers, just giving you a heads up on some problems I/many people have faced! Good luck!
