The 224/230 112* is ground on a 108 LSA I believe, which is the same as the hotcam if I remember right.

The 224/230 is a larger cam than the hotcam, in both duration and lift, not to mention the ramp rates keep the valves open higher longer than the hotcam too. Just because the hotcam passes doesn't mean the 224/230 on a 112* will pass. The advertised numbers look similar but they're also quite different.

What are you smokin? The 224/230 cam can't help but have more valve overlap. It has 6 more deg duration and the LSA is 2 deg tighter. With the 112 LSA cam you should have 5 deg more valve overlap. Even the 114 LSA cam has 3 deg more overlap. If you have to pass emissions I would use the 114 cam. It would also provide better power and torque below the torque peak in exchange for a few ponies on the top end.

No the 224/230 112 is ground on a 112 LSA... hence the 112. Actually advertised duration is larger for the hotcam than the XE... 279/287(hot cam) vs 276/282(XE). The XE just has more duration at .50" lift.

If you would actually do the math instead of pulling numbers outta your *** you would see that the XE has 55* of overlap vs the hot cams 59* and this is with both cams ground on a 112 LSA. So whatever it is Im smokin... you should try it out.

Yeah, I meant 108 ICL.

Either way overlap will be the same and overlap is what effects emissions the greatest.

Exactly. The XE's lobes are steeper, and flatter at the top. The idea is to maximize flow with reduced overlap. The only disadvantage that I've heard about the XE's design is that they tend to cause a noisier than average valvetrain, & perhaps a bit more wear.

I'll know soon enough... I'm just waiting for my Extreme Duty timing set to finish the build-up (with the XE224/230).

My car failed emissions last week. The car has everything that's in the sig and I'm in TX. With a good running and well tuned car I think you can get that cam to pass.

The cam is on a 112 LSA.

What kind of tune did you use. I've heard of people passing cc306's before with special tunes used only for emissions. I'm sure if you used one of those that little cam should pass easy.
