My car did that when the opti started going south... If it is the opti, your problems will get worse and worse untill it will barly accelerate, even at WOT

Is the car misfiring at all? Check for dead cylinders

Guess I'm just gonna order a new opti and a water pump while I'm at it.

could a faulty TPS or dirty MAF cause something like this? I'd check that before I changed an opti.
I was having a prob in open loop kinda like that. The thing wouldn't get out of its way at part throttle. You had to mash the pedal then it take off. Turned out to be a very dirty MAF.

I just cleaned them recently....I don't think that would be it, but I guess it's worth a shot.

Damn, 6th page already.

Anyways, this morning it didn't do it and the car drove fine. I'm almost 100% sure that its the opti...

ITS THE OPTI LIKE I SAID EARLIER. You could always check for codes with a scanner. I think I always had 15 or 16 coming up, whichever one was related to a bad opti.

My problem was a slow oil leak accumulating in where else--yes the opti!!

People will try and tell you that its the coil or the maf, which it very well might be but trust me the optis are notorious for giving problems like what you are describing. Mine was more than a miss, it was an all out backfire assualt on the engine with the worse spark known to man. It was barely driveable and sometimes wouldnt start.

Good luck!

Just remember, a bad opti only gets worse, dont leave yourself stranded somewhere thinking the problem went away...it will come back to haunt you *words of wisdom*

if that peice of road you go down has a water spot or something that would make your opti. worse it could be that.

It's takes some time to do, but if you deside to check it when you open it up usually u can tell if it's bad or not. When I opened mine up the rotor was all rusty, and I've seen others with the ribs worn down due to the roter hitting it and others with the roter damaged. just a thought
