My driver side went straight in from the bottom with a bit of wiggling it took me no more than 15 seconds. For the pass side, I had to jack up the motor about 3-4 in and it slid straight in no hassle and even easier than the driver side. I did undo the driver's side motor mount partially too.

get the BFH and open fire. seriously though, just jack the car as high as it will go, then turn the header almost vertical and it will slide in. i just had to take the oil filter off.

hey, you're not the only one that feels stupid. i've had the same exact problem with mine. the passenger's side took about 20 minutes to get in, and i've been trying to get the driver's side in for about 2 weeks. i can't get it to fit past the k-member and the body and the canton pan doesn't help. i finally got sick of wasting my time, and am sending them back to jet-hot. after dropping one on my forehead, i'd be happy to ship them back, just to get them out of my sight.

i've also wondered if they sent me the wrong driver's side header, or if it was just a bad bunch and none of them fit.

Didn't need one. I used the weight of the car to push the passenger header in. I ended up with one scratch on them. But they were not coated so you can't even see it now!

I have decide you are all out of your mind, or else they sent me the wrong header. There is no way this thing is going in from the bottom either. There is always something in the way...be it the oil pressure sender, the motor mount, the transmission, the body of the car, the K member, etc. There simply is no way it will go in. The slip fit tube hits the K member on the only angle I can find to come even close to getting it in... I guess I am going to have to either drop the rack or pull the steering column and try it from the top

I think my tranny being out is the reason mine went in so easy.
Can you lift the motor up anymore?
Oil pressure sending unit in the way? You have a 94 correct? I have a 94 and mine is up on the manifold.
They will go in trust me. Just take some time and fiddle with it some more and maybe try to get just a wee bit more lift on the motor.

well, if it's not the oil pressure sender I am not sure what it is...but it sticks out from just above the oil filter and is about 3 or 4 inches long and has an electrical connection. I just removed it and jacked the car up as high as I possibly can. I am going to lift the motor as high as I can (drivers side only) and see what happens. Pisses me off though...spend this much money on headers only to have them get all scratched and beat up trying to wedge them in. There HAS to be something wrong here. You guys make it sound way too easy, and I am not mechanically inept... I refuse to believe these are the correct headers if the go in like you all say.

Also, I dropped the pass side header in. It is within about an inch... hits the valve cover though. Looks like I will be lifting that side of the motor too.

We just did them on my friends 96 SS. We put both in from the top. we removed the drivers side motor mount bolt and jacked it up as high as it would go and the drivers side was the easier of the two. Then we lowered it back and bolted it on and the pass was a bitch had to fit a prybar in between the block and header flange and have someone else push like hell. Ours was hitting the valve cover as well.

FINALLY!! I got the drivers side in. Had to pull that sending unit, jack the motor every bit it had and get the car up every last mm the jack would go and it finally went in. Now I have to reassemble all this stuff and go to the other side <sigh> Hopefully it will go in easier...

I'm not ready to celebrate yet. Still gotta get that slip fit tube installed. whats the secret there? It goes in 1/4" and is scraping off the coating as it goes. Can't get it to go beyond that...rubber mallet maybe?

Put a little oil on it. It will slip right in.
