Angry WTF?? Have to drop the rack and pinion to install long tubes?

GRRR!!! I am so pissed off right now! I have the connection shaft from the steering out, the oil filter, motor mount, engine is jacked up, ABS is pulled out of the way and bracket removed, etc.

And I STILL can't get my Jet-Hot long tube to go in. WTF am I missing? It seems to get wedged between the stub of the steering column and the rack. Am I going to have to drop the rack to install 1 damn header?

Anyone have a link to an install guide on these things? there HAS to be an easier way!

The drivers side goes through the bottom.. passenger side through the top.

my hooker Long tubes went in and all we did was disconnect the steering shaft. It takes patience and creative angling to get it in,do the jethot's have the slip tube for the #1 primary like the hookers do?

Yeah, slip tube is out. The header comes SO close to going in from the top. If I dropped the rack or pulled the steering column it would be in...but I knew there had to be an easier way. From the bottom I just can't find an angle to get it up in there. it gets close one way, but the flange catches between the body and the edge of the K member where it bolts to the subframe

I feel like an idiot...everyone says "it goes right in" and then they laugh at me. Just frustrates me even more. I have installed dozens of sets of headers on other vehicles...never had trouble like this. I'm beginning to wonder if they sent me a set for a different application or something

They go in the way Jordan said. Wiggle and move it around a little. It will go, it took me a little while, once you get it, it will slip right in.

did you have to pull anything besides the oil filter and steering shaft? I had to unhook the electrical connection to the trans on the side there, the low oil sensor, and still had not enough room. I then unbolted the motor mount and jacked up that side of the engine. I'll have to have a fresh look at it tomorrow. hopefully it will slip in like you all say...so far I am pretty pissed and STILL wondering if they sent the wrong year header or something

On the pass side, what do I need to look out for? I already pulled the plugs and dipstick tube, and I have no a/c plenum, so the firewall is bare except the PCM. Do I need to pull th started, lift the motor, or anything else? Looks awful tight for a top side install, but I will take your word for it...

Try this on the drivers side, point the front of the header straight up through the opening and then wiggle it in that way, itll go.

I got mine in in about 30 minutes. Without jacking up the motor or removing the steering shaft. It just takes patience and a little elbow grease.

What oil pan you using. I had a hard time the first time putting my headers in after my Canton oil pan, until I figured it out.

When you say lift the engine, you mean the whole engine or just one side. I was not able to put the drivers side header in with the motor lifted up, only with the drivers side motor mount bolt out while the passenger side was still in so it pulled up at an angle.

My car also had to be as high as I could get it also to get the angle I needed to get the header in.

With a stock pan, both went in decent.
