WTF! Driver side is higher than pass.

My driver's side front end has the tire flush with the body, but on the passenger side, the tire is in about an 1" from being flush with the body.

Anybody know what's going on?

Ya, this seems to be a common problem on our cars. I noticed it on mine when it was only a few years old.

I just researched this a few days ago and I didn't find a definite answer as to why the passenger side is always lower. Do a search on this subject and you'll find a ton of posts on it.

Soon I'm gonna replace my springs/shocks and it should correct the problem.

Thanks for the input, yeah I was thinking about getting some new tires and suspension components, but that part of the buildup is way out of my league at the moment, so I'll just have to wait, I hope the body isn't flexed to crap.

Thanks

Ya, I was concerned about that too, but I don't see how it could really torque the frame that way unless we were making a ton of power, but I could be wrong. In a few months I will get some subframe connectors, and I was concerned about getting them welded in while the car is in this bent configuration, I don't want it to permanently lock it that way, so I'm gonna wait until I replace my suspension and get it straightened out.

You said suspension upgrades are way out of your league, do you mean pricewise or installation labor? You can find some good, cheap springs and shocks that will be a great upgrade. The SLP level 1 package for example.

17x9 and 17x11 with tires = $2000
Global West Adjusting Kitw/Koni's = $1000

I don't want to waste any money on the "lesser" configurations, I plan on building a touring/track car that will see a lot of abuse.

my pass side is way lower too. ive seen a few threads on this and the conclusion is that the drivers side is meant to sit higher so that when the driver is in the car it evens it out.

My Trans Am does it, and I have noticed it on other cars. Like somebody below said, it should help some when you get in. (I 'm not sure however if they set the cars up that way to compensate for the driver or not).

Also I THINK it may have some to do with the fact that these cars are driven hard, and after years , a car that makes good tourque (V8's) will wear the right side, springs, and shocks, more. ESPECIALLY the right rear, as the rear wheel drive car squats to the right rear every time you accelerate. I noticed a few years back, when i was walking back to the car after paying for gas.

I doubt that's the case. What happens when a passenger gets in then? Maybe they should come from the factory with only 1 seat.

when you hit the gas, the rear end torques over in response to the torque applied at the gears, and the right rear takes a dive down. At the same time, the front left gets pulled up and the right frone gets pushed down some. This is only really noticeable in these cars if your making a lot of power or your springs are worn out. Chances are if you replace your springs it would even out.

Ever see a fast car on slicks hang the drivers side front tire out for 60' while the passengers tire is still on the pavement?

Thanks for the responses guys, but in my case the rear end is perfectly level. The front end has the passenger tire sticking in a good amount, and the driver's side is flush with the body.

I can't really tell if it gets compensated for when I get into the car.

Mine is the exact same. About an inch lower on the passenger side.
I've replaced shocks, springs, and every bushing under the car and it made no difference.
Two months ago, put it on a frame machine and there was nothing off.
I'm stumped too, but kinda glad to hear that I'm not alone.

I have had the same exact problem, and I too changed the shocks and springs and nothing. I learned to live with it and take it as normal.
