That's a pretty big difference though... I had no slippage, and my car spent quite a bit of time at WOT.

I was told it was the same OD when I got it. Hmm.. Oh well.
yeah, mine was $32 from the GM dealer here.....prices seem to flucuate heavily for some reason, had to actually bring them the pt # they said it didn't exsist! LOL
All that stuff is what I found from doing a search, alot of people have had problems with it
my belt has 115xxx miles on it too, so I'm sure that has something to do with it as it probably should of been replaced before the pulley.
In short make sure you have the money for the belt just in case, you might not need it, but better safe than sorry

the defrost idea is just a myth .. i live in VANCOUVER BC .. the heaviest rained out and humid town in north america (quit possibly) .. and i lived thru a whole year without my AC (stupid machinist broke my line, lost all AC juice) . im yankin mine .. never used it anyway ... T tops are barely ever on the car anyway .. so AC is useless .. and 50 lbs is a lot IMO ... but then again .. im after high 10s this season
so every bit counts

I just took mine out - fairly easy job but no way was it 50 lbs - I'd say more like 20-25 lbs.
One big benefit is thst it cleans up the engine bay quite a bit - I can see that a lot more air would get to the rad and #2 plug is a snap to get to.

The AC delete is more than just weight reduction. It's weight off the front end of the car which helps weight distribution and traction. By itself you wont see much gain, but part of a total package with a few other choice mods, it can do a lot for the way the car launches, both on the track and street.
It's a worthwhile mod in my option.
Hell, I was in my mid 20s before I owned a car with AC. Beleive it or not, some people can get along fine in a daily driver that doesnt have AC, PS, PB, PW, PL, PS, Cruise, antilocks, and a CD changer.
Just a matter of choice. And I promise, no one's gonna melt without AC...

I am having trouble getting the AC off. i removed the 3 bolts of the compressor and even disconnected the lines in the back of it by removing those 2 bolts and the thing wiggles but it stuck in there. Am I missing something?
I took mine off to. I have used it 1 time in the 2+ years I owned the car. No matter what anyone can say any weight that comes off will help. Mine weighed out to 40+lbs that I dont need or use.
Were lucky if we see 80 up here come summer time plus I got t tops.
Now back to the orginal question. Are there anylines you must block off or can you just take everything out and leave it as is?
