Angry header install

I am installing a set of edelbrock shorty headers on my car. I have the manifold on the drivers side out and I am trying to put the shorty header in and it keeps getting stuck on things. If I try and put it in from the top I keep hitting the steering shaft. From the bottom I keep hitting into numerous edges and stuff. I need help asap trying to have my car fixed within the next few days. Thanks.

there are two bolts on the steering knuckle, one on teh top near the steering wheel and one on the bottom near the steering rack. I put my long tubes in from the bottom. Even taking out the valve cover it would still not go so I don't think you will be able to go in from the top, but give it a try.

www.theheadfl.com to see our install of our long tubes. 2 installs 3 days each.

I have the Edelbrock shortys [single cat , 94] drivers side went in from the top, steering shaft removed, spark plugs[ at least the rear 2] out...
Passenger side went in from bottom, spark plugs out.. [alternator removed for access to the bolts..]
Take both steering shaft bolts out [one at top one at bottom ends] and slide the shaft UP to get bottom end off the steering box, and then down off the steering column end..
I actually was a bit impressed with the fit of them.. and I bought them used also..
they were a little tricky but fit well, and sealed well..

Does anyone have a site that shows where the bolts for the steering knuckle are? Thanks.

Just pop off the black plastic cover thats over the steering shaft. You'll see that theres one bolt that holds the shaft on up top. I think its about a 1/2in. bolt. Remove that bolt. Then follow the shaft down to where it connects. There is only one other bolt pinching it on. Loosen that bolt. I used a screwdriver and hammer to tap against the bottom of the shaft so it popped up and off the steering box. Then pulled it back down and slid it off the shaft. Should only be a 5min. job to remove it.

Yes very easy, its no big deal to remove and install it. Nothing you can really screw up on, just two bolts, one to remove and one to loosen.

OK, I got the drivers side header in. Now I am going to take the passenger one out tomorrow and hopefully put the new one in. I am sure I will be back on asking more questions. Thanks for the help.
