I tried some D3's on my SS and compared to my G-Force KDWS's they really sucked. The G-Force series eats them alive in the handling dept.

Well, if KDWSs out handled them, then they wont be anywhere near the KDs. I just wish the KDs lasted longer.

Anymore input on these?

So you guys are saying that the D3's grip really good. If i were to get 3.42's with the minor mods i have, i shoudlnt have a problem hooking up with them? I was thinking about nitto drags but i drive alot in the rain.

Hmmm...2002 SS A4 with 350RWHP, couldn't hookup well on 315KD's, but did great on 275 D3's...

It all depends on the car, and conditions. BTW, KDWS sucks compaed eve to F1 GS's in dry traction, they are not even in the same league as SZ50, D3, KDW or KD, or RE730's, etc. I have known 3 different LS1's who have bought them, and each one sold them to get something else.

All of the tires you just named are worthless compared to any of the G-Force tires. I have had everything you mentiond and all were no comparisson to the KDWS. I have had 4 different sets of tires on my SS and the KDWS's are staying on.

???

KD and KDW are G-Force...

I have had KD's, KDW, KDWS, D3's, RE730's, and SZ50's, and currently have F1-GS, OE tires...They do suck, but they came with the wheels.

D3-Best all around, rain, dry, etc. Got a 2.0 60' on this one. Tirerack rankings: Handling:8.9 Dry:9.3 Wet: 9.2.

KD-Best dry trction, hands down. got a 1.9 on this one.
Tirerack rankings: Handling:9.4 Dry:9.6 Wet: 6.7.

KDW-Basically the old Comp T/A, agood all around tire, not quite as good as the D3 in dry traction. Never ran at track with this one, sold the car -
Tirerack rankings: Handling:8.9 Dry:9.1 Wet: 8.1.

KDWS- Like the RS-A, OK in rain, sucks in dry, never got better than a 2.2 60' time. It is not a max performance tire, it is an all-season.
Tirerack rankings: Handling:8.4Dry:8.6 Wet: 8.2.

RE730-Great all around, good treadwear, decent wet traction - Never ran, sold car.
Tirerack rankings: Handling:8.7 Dry:9.1 Wet: 8.8.

SZ50 - best wet traction coupled with great dry traction, got 2.0 60' on these.
Tirerack rankings: Handling:9.00 Dry:9.2 Wet: 9.

Check the user rankings on www.tirerack.com . I just did a compare on these tires, and the user rankings have the KDWS last in handling rating.

No one I know will ever say the KDWS is as good as the KD.
I have never seen an all season tire do as well as a tire designed for max traction in the dry. Of course, i do not live in an area where snow is an issue. Just rain.

Me, I'll get what is the best in the dry, with a consideration of wet traction. GS-D3 or SZ50's for me. If it were not my daily driver, then it would be KD hands down.

I hook up with high stall converter and 3.73's 1/4 mile. These are my only tires that are top of the line. They seem to be more of a traction tire than handling form my experience.

So from what i have gathered in this thread: THe D3's and firehawks for minor modded cars seem to hook up almost as well as the nitto drags, and last twice as long, and are excellent in the rain...seems like D3's are coming my way.

Tirerack is the cheapest place to get them from....unless you have a Discount Tire Store in your city. They will match the price and install for free.

Hmmmm, I must have gotten a freak pair of KDWS's I managed three 2.0? 60 ft's on them.

By the way the only reason the D3 and SZ50 hook is because of there very weak (soft) sidewalls. Which is the same reason they aren't better than ANY of the G-Force tire in the hadling dept. Smooth ride isn't a handling charcteristic.....
