Would this pass emissions?
Would this pass emissions?
About to loose my license over emissions here. I have long tubes off road Y pipe and catback. Im not too worried about no cat, ive heard of cars passing without em. But i also have a 3600 stall. Im afraid the revs will be so high when they put it on the dyno itll fail. Would the stall hurt it alot, or would it run pretty clean since the motors not really loaded till the converter spins up to a certain RPM? Its also been reprogrammed by madz28 witha lil timing advance thrown in. I think i might have too much against me, but ive had stock LT1s reading so low youd think the car was idleing the whole time. Its got fresh plugs n wires, any other tips oir tricks?
Re: Would this pass emissions?
I know i can get failed automatically for no cat, im not so much worried about that as i am it actually passing the sniffer. Humm i also killed the EGR, and air. Air is fine it only works when warming up, but the EGR might cause some high readings. Ive got isses
Re: Would this pass emissions?
Stall or no stall, if you have removed your cat, you will most likely fail the visual test if it is performed, and you will most likely fail the tailpipe test. Aftermarket cats from Carsound, Catco, or Pypes are not that expensive.
Re: Would this pass emissions?
As far as the EGR goes, I passed the emissions test with egr disabled. I was running a zz3 cam, and put the converter on to pass the test. I changed my oil, went straight to the testing facility and passed while only registering a third of the limit on about all categories. Granted the zz3 cam is small, but I was expecting higher NOx numbers due to egr being deleted. I use a carsound cat that just slips into my y-pipe. I guess the greater overlap of the cam performed the egr duties for me.

Re: Would this pass emissions?
I think im gonna put some washers on one of the exasut flanges and try to dump some exaust before it makes it out the tailpipes. My ex's car just was passed with a MASSIVE exaust leak (SUPER LOUD) with flying colors in a shadier part of town. Ill put a nice gap after the muffler before the tailpipes and hopefully dump some exaut through there and maybe i can talk one of the techs into leaving the sniffer half hanging off or something.
Also gonna be running on alotta alcohol i think! Im gonna drive it till empty soon after to get it out of the system as i hear it can be bad for o-rings?

Re: Would this pass emissions?
Remember the higher the octane content, the higher the HCs are going to be because the fuel takes longer to burn, so use the lowest octane fuel. The extra timing should help you since it will give more time for the fuel to burn completely.
As far as the EGR, if you have a cam that is similar in overlap to the LT4 style cams you're ok..the LT4 motors do not have an EGR because it is redundant due to the intake/exhaust overlap.
