Would knock sensor cause this???

Ok, so my car seems to have its great days and then its "good" days. I just put in a new tranny and upgraded from 2.73's to 3.73's. I have to say that I am not that impressed with them at the moment. Anyways, back to my question. When i dropped in the new motor we banged up the knock sensor pretty good and i think we even smashed the end of it a little bit but the connector still went on. I posted a question a while back about my fans coming on 5 seconds after i start the car. I think it was Shoebox that mentioned my car my be going into "limp" mode and causing the fans to come on immediately. Is it possible that my knock sensor is no good, causing my car to go into limp mode?? Also, if the knock sensor is bad will it automatically pull the max amount of timing do to it not functioning?? I am thinking this is why my car my feel down on the power and at times if the sensor decides it wants to work all the sudden might be why it feels faster at some times. Can anyone provide some insight? thanks, dustin.

I don't remember saying that (I don't usually say "limp home mode" ). You should get it scanned to see if there is a code present for the sensor circuit (or anything else). Are the fans coming on immediately?

I think if you have a Knock sensor circuit problem you get an SES light. At least my car did.

The fans come on after about 5 seconds of the car running, no matter if the engine is completely cooled down or not. I have no SES lights at all, ive never had any since ive owned the car. As far as I can tell all other sensors are plugged in and working properly. I was thinking, IF its my knock sensor that isnt working, could i just pull off the connector and see if it gives an SES light or if it feels any differant?

Some codes don't set off the SES. Have it scanned. Maybe your light is not working.

My car will throw a code for the KS being unplugged but not an SES light.
