Just installed SLP shorties

I bought them used for 150 dollars shipped, and also purchased plugs/wires and did a transmission service. The headers actually made the Loudmouth sound so much better, and the change in performance is just amazing. It really pulls hard up top now. My next purchase is going to be some tires, and then maybe an electric water pump?

I thought I had made an awesome deal at $243, but $150 rocks! I'm glad to hear they make a big difference. I haven't installed mine yet.

Re: Just installed SLP shorties

It seems I lost a little bit of low end, but just a touch, but the gain in the rest of the power band is well worth the few horsepower/torque lost down low. It wasn't too much of a pain, besides getting the headers bolted up. I don't know if I will ever do headers on another f-body again though, just time consuming. Yeah, I saw a member selling the headers for 150 dollars shipped, and they were perfect when they arrived, just a perfect deal.

Why get an electric water pump if yours is working fine? Spend the money elseware.

Re: Just installed SLP shorties

It is probably a good thing we lose a little on the bottom end. Tire spin is a huge problem(I am not bitchin about the power ) I had an 87 iroc with a 350 tpi. The car could spin the tires all day long, the torque was just phenominal, Too bad it always puked out at around 5000 rpm. The runners were almost 18 inches long so they puked quick. Lt1 got HP and TQ with a 3 inch runner! I had edelbrock shorties and I still spun like crazy but could feel a difference when I did them. I also got the loudmouth and thought the same after my header install, it did sound better. We'll see with Hooker LTs , no cat and the loudmouth. I have heard it sounds bad, but we'll have to see.
