Which would be better Hotcam kit vs. CC305

I know that probably a hotcam kit would be bettter, but by how much. Does the hotcam make lt1's sound like old mucsle cars?? I LOVE that sound. I just see that some people put in the cc305 and wanted to know the reasoning behind it. Thanks.

the 305 will not sound like a muscle car in my opinion. but step up to the 224/230 on a 112 and youll get closer.

there is so much that changes the sound of a cam that it is to much to mention.

use the search and there is a ton of stuff.

I like the sound of the old muscle cars too, but I don't think that it is gonna happen in an EFI engine, I've never heard it at least. You can make your car 'lopey' with a good cam, it's probably the sound you're talkin about anyway. I heard a guy's car on here with the 305 and 112 LSA sounded awesome, very lopey. The 306 sounds awesome too, I've heard that at a stoplight followed by me gettin raped in a quick street race the guy had a T/A and it almost stalled at the light it was cammin so badly. VERY sweet sound though.

yeah....'lopey' is what i meant....i am still curious to find out how much a difference a hotcam kit would be compared to JUST a cc305 or 224/230 . That is the real question.

I recenlty linked a huge amount of cam sound clips here and eveyone agreed that the LT4 isn't as lopey as the 305, I'll check my favorites and see if I still have the link.

From what i have read here, most people say they all are about equal. The 305 and the hotcam are really close in specs. What i'm not sure about is, the specs for the 305 cam says it a 114 lobe separation, where as the Hotcam is 112. If i understand cams right the 112 should have a little more lope, but that doesn't seem to be the case as far some people think. Maybe somebody else here knows why.

SEARCH!

The 'Hotcam vs cc305' question has been posted a 1000 times. I did a search on just 'hotcam' and came up with 261 posts. Give it a shot, there's tons of info already there if you just take a moment to look.

Here are the specs of each cam

Hotcam:
218/226 112LSA with 492in/492ex w/1.5 RR
525in/525ex w/1.6 RR

CC 305:
220/230 114LSA with 510in/510ex w 1.5 RR
544in/544ex w 1.6 RR

I have the CC305 and I like it. But on a N/A car, I think and have read/heard that they both will give the roughly the same amount of power, If it was me and I had a N/A car, I would get the cc305 on a 112 LSA and get the Valve springs from combination motorsports. Combination motorsports sell springs that will fit the stock heads and require no maching and will handle lift upto .600 and they only want 90 bucks for the springs and that includes retainers too.

Hope that helps,

PS...I think combination motorsports may be able to help you with Roller rockers and get you a cc305 cam on a 112.
