Would 160 Thermo cause no heat?
Would 160 Thermo cause no heat?
I bought my camaro used and not sure what kind of thermo, if any the kid put in. I have low temp heat and troubleshooted it and it says i need a new thermo because the heater inlet is hot and the outlet is only warm. My question is, would a 160 degree thermo cause me to have no heat if the kid put one in. Or if i go to replace it and put a 160 in instead of the stock one, will that cause me to have no heat after i put it in?
Yea, no disadvantages to it.
Mine is HOT ... I had problems with it my heater and decided to flush it when I put the cam in. I was suprised how dirty it was. I flushed the radiator, heater core, and the block out with a hose and its crazy how much gunk was in there ...

The causes for little or no heat are many. Bad stat, improperly installed stat, wrong stat, vents sticking, plugged core, leaky core, etc.
One that is often missed is low coolant. Just because the overflow is up to the marked level does not always mean that the system is full. If you have too little coolant, and since the heater is the highest point in the system, too little coolant may not reach the heater sufficiently to provide consistant heat. If you hear gurgling (often thought to be something rattling behind the dash) it just might be low coolant that is splashing up into the core on an inconsistant basis. The result being that the heat comes on, the temp gauge fluctuates, then the heat goes cool and so on. So make sure you have sufficient coolant before you start changing stats or any other invasive actions. And, of course, if your coolant is frequently low, then you need to have the system pressure checked for leaks.

im pretty sure i have enough coolant, i cant add anymore through the radiator. See the wierd thing about the inlet hose is that its partially warm up until this metal bracket thing, then he rest of the hose is cool. However, as soon as i turn the car off it seems like coolant passes through there and it becomes hot like the outlet hose. Could there be air in my heater core or something? Yellow circle is where it does not get hot until after the car is started. Red part is hot, and i dont know what the blue circle hose is.
