Unhappy Worst case scenario ie fuel pump!

It always has to be the worst case scenario with this car. I have a 1994 Pontiac Trans Am, and I took it to a GM mechanic, and he says I need a new fuel pump! Those that have had this work done before, how much did it cost you! I am not going to do the trap door method, and I am definitely not going to drop the rearend, so I have to have a mechanic do the job for me

I say just go ahead and cut the hole, its way easier than dropping the whole rear-end and will save you tons of money. just my .02 cents though
