won't start after rocker install?

I just put some comp pro mag 1.6 RR on the car and adjusted them using the method of bringing each piston to TDC and adjusting both the intake and exhaust valve in the order of firing order. When I first tried to start it, the car fired right up. The rockers seemed really noisy so I shut it down. I went and readjusted them using the method where you bring the car to #1 TDC and adjust #1 and the other valves that go with it. Then I rotated 360 deg and adjusted the rest of the valves that the haynes manual calls for. Now the car wont start and it seems to crank kind of hard at a point after turning the key. It acts like it may want to fire but is off or something. It almost seems to backfire a little. What else can I do??? Sorry for being so long. Thanks for any of your help.

You're supposed to turn the crank 90 degrees and do the next firing order... not 360...

My guess:
It sounds like you tightened them down too far and the valves arent closing all the way. That explains why it is backfiring a bit, and why it doesnt crank kinda hard.

That is how I did it the first time when it started up. But I rotated 360 deg when I adjusted using the method of #1 first then only cirtain exhaust and intake valves.

I tightened 1/2 turn past 0 lash though. And that is with comp R lifters.

I think that I'm going to go back and for the 5th or so time try and readjust the rockers by going piston to piston adjusting both the intake and exhaust valves following the firing order. Turing the crank in 90 deg intervals for a total of 2 full rotations. How loud are these pro mags supposed to be?? Because these were very loud when I first had the car started?
