Do you have any way to scan the computer? I'm sure if you did, you would have posted that, but just thought i would ask.

Is the motor not cranking at all, (if not, is it doing anything, clicking, etc.) or will it crank but just not quite start?

It will turn over as long as I keep charging the battery but it will not catch. I just tried another trick and held a GE 194 bulb on one of the injector plug ins. When I crank the engine it blinks. That means I am getting voltage to the injectors. I wish I had some sort of Scan tool it would make this a lot easyer.

It sounds like it could just be a bad battery. Have you tried replacing it with one from another car or a new one?

thermwood1 What I mean by the battery is that i keep discharging it by trying to crank the engine. The battery is reading a goo 13.6 volts when it is charged up. I think I have determined that the Opti is sending signals to the PCM to fire the injectors but I don't think that the plugs ar firing but not with HV. When I pull a plug it is wet with gas from the cranking process. I tried some starting fluid in the Tb but it still would not hit. This had got me stumped because I have the three basics covered but still no start.

Maybe there is a remote possibility that you flooded it. Try cranking it with the gas pedal held on the floor.

ShoeBix I had already tried the gas pedal hold down with no luck. I was trying to avoid having to buy a new Opti but I figured since I was not getting HV to the plugs that it was the Opti. I just pulled it from the engine to go and get a new one. I hope this is the problem because I don't like wasteing my money on parts I don't need

Well because my problem seems to be the OptiSpark I went searching for the best price on one. I know some of you guys get then from this Jason guy or GMpartsdirect but I went looking for one on Ebay. I found several in the Lt1 section but I also found a New one that was not in the LT1 catagory. I stayed up late last night to put in my final bid on it right before the closing. I won with a bid of $ 112.00 plus shipping. That dosen't hurt as much as two or three hundred.

That's a good price. I hope that fixes your problem.

I got the New Optispark (GM) in today . Also got a new ICM and water pump. The new WP I had was leaking out the weep hole. I installed all of the above and it still will not start. I guess I am back to square one. I will start tommorow and recheck everthing but I don't have a lot that is not new on this engine now.

I have gone back over all of my connections since my last post and still have a no start because of NO SPARK. Here is my list of checks that I have done.

ICM CONNECTOR
Replaced ICM twice with new unit, I thought I got a bad one the 1st time so I went back and traded it for another one
Ignition On Meter DC volts
Pin A Has B+ Voltage
Pin B White wire Has 4.6 AC Volts while cranking /Continuity checked to PCM Pin B5 OK
Pin C Has Good Ground B+
Pin D Has B+ Voltage
COIL CONNECTOR
I have two coils that have been checked out and they are good. Both are reading at least 5.65 ohms
Pin A Pink Has B+ Voltage
Pin B Dk Green Has Steady ground with no pulsing with the coil wire grounded and pin B connected to LED test light With B+ while cranking.By everthing I have read this should be a pulsing ground I know this points to the ICM being bad but what are my odds of getting two bad brand new ones.
OPTISPARK
NEW GM unit installed and reinstalled to double check myself for the pin seating
Harness has been checked for Continuity and correct voltage on A,B,C,D pins All OK
PCM
All B+ connections have been checked and are OK on Black,Red,Blue,Gray connectors.
GROUNDS
Front of Block Taken off and buffed and re-installed
Back of Block Taken off and buffed and re-installed
Main beside of battery to engine Driver head Taken off and buffed and re-installed
STARTER
All Wires taken off cleaned and reinstalled

Even with everthing that I have done above it still has no more than a faint yellow spark from a grounded plug and that is not all of the time. If anyone has comments to add I would appreiate it.

I had the same problem with my Firebird. I was about to take off the opti and noticed that the plug that goes into the opti was badly corroded. Cleaned off the crap and it fired right up.
