Won't pass 4k

When I accelerate with my foot to the floor, as I get to about 4k RPM, my car begins to studder, and won't go past 4k. If I slowly accelerate, it will go all the way up to redline as normal. One thing I noticed was that my battery guage (damn n00bs) is way way low, and my windows go up/down very slowly. Anyone have any idea whats up? ANy help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Won't pass 4k

also the gauge is your alternator output voltage gauge, get your battery and alternator tested(any competent local auto parts store can do it for free).

sounds to me like your charging system has some problems, can't keep the battery up to snuff and that is not allowing the coil to produce the needed spark at full throttle hi-rpm levels.

either that or fuel starvation

Re: Won't pass 4k

OK, today im going to....

1. Run it with no air filter.
2. Change the fuel filter.
3. Have the battery and alternator checked.
4. Unbolt the exhaust and give it a try.
5. Clean all connections to battery/alternator.

Anyone have anything to add?
