Wiper motor replacement/tools?
Has anyone replaced the wiper motor without using the special tools listed in the service manual? My wipers don't park properly but otherwise work ok. It's not a repair that needs immediate attention but I'd like to find out if I actually need the tools for what I hope is a one time job.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I did. I got a two pronged puller from Sears to take the arms off, and they're a pain to get off of the stud. Once those are off, you need to remove the plastic molding, and you will probably have to remove the hood to do that. To separate the wiper arm linkage, just use a flat wide file or something. Stick it inbetween the linkage arms at the ball joint, and twist. Then just use a pair of pliers to reconnect them. It's a simple job.
Did mine with basic tools...
Didn't need any 'puller' for the arms...
Didn't pull the hood...
When you put the motor in the rear of it goes in rubber grommets make sure they go in the slots...
When you put the linkage back in the 'ball and socket' make sure its ON all the way[or it pops off...ask how I know!]
It SEEMS on, but isn't all the way... takes quite a bit of force to pop the ball and socket thing in..
Solved the wiper not parking [changing to a used motor]
Not parking is the circuit board in the wiper motor..
