Angry window motor

i was driving around town last night with my driver side window down. It went down with no problem and when i went to put it back up...i had nothing. I pulled the switch pannel out and everything appears to be plugged in. Is it possible for the motor to just go out like that? What else should i look for that might have gone wrong?

Yup, that's probably your culprit. Our window motors are notorious for doing that. I think Shoebox has a writup on his site that is very informative for changing one. Takes most people a couple hours or less by following his advice.

Yes, your window motor went out. Very common problem and is easy to fix shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html
Go to that website, easy to follow instructions

I would check the wiring first, fuses and such. Generally our trusty window motors give us a warning before they go out.

My windows ocassionally decide not to work, then 2 secs. later, they miraculously work again.

It worked up and down all night. last time it went out, it started moving slower and slower. not just a sudden wont work. the motor in it now was replaced about 5 months ago with a brand new one.

Which fuses are the ones to check?

Mine would do the same thing. It would go down fine but was a pain to get back up. Good luck!

it worked perfect, it was not a pain in the butt. Now it is not hard to get up, it just wont go back up.

I just switched the little grey fuse/braker with the one for the power seats and got nothing. both breakers worked with the seats and neither for the window.

i just need other suggestions to check but i have a guy to replace the window motor on wednesday if that is the problem

Yup that means it's probably the motor. I guess it's possible you have a short somewhere but I doubt it. Our window motors seem to do that. They won't go up, then you let them "rest" for a little bit, and they'll go up a bit more. Then continue and continue this process till it gets all the way to the top. They seem to heat up or something and then need to cool off before they'll work again. Every one does it differently and needs different lengths of time before they'll work again, but they all basically do that. Good luck.
