Will these tires fit??

Ok, so my family has drag raced for a while and we have a set of rims with i think they are around 10x29 on them. I was thinking about throwing them on my z, but would those 10 inchers fit in there. Also, would that be good to do with the 3.23 gears?

I run a Hoosier QTP 28x11.5-15, and I think 28" is about the largest diameter you can use with the stock wheel openings. I know my 28's will start to rub on the fender opening when they start to grow at 120+mph trap speeds.

28" QTP's

A buddy of mine put 29.5's on a 97 SS Convert, and it took body shop mod's to the wheel openings to make them fit.

The other thing to consider is the effect a tire that large has on your overall "gear" ratio. If you have 3.23's, going from the stock 25.66" tire diameter to a 29" slick is like swapping in some 2.86 gears (theoretical... yes I know there is no such thing as 2.86's.. ). I run 4.10's with my 28's, and a converter that flashes to 5,000rpm under a full shot of juice.

I run 11x17 wheels with 315/35-17 tires so I'm sure the width will fit with the proper backspacing on the rims. My concern would be the diameter of the drag tires. 315/35's are about 11.5" wide at their cross section but only 25.5" in diameter. The drag tires will probably rub on bumps and such being bigger around. They will also effectively give you a taller gear ratio (ie: lower number like 3.08) affecting your speedometer and such.

Injuneer is much more qualified than myself to answer this-- he posted while I tapped away.
