Will I see much of a difference upgrading to CAI from stock setup w/ K&N?
Will I see much of a difference upgrading to CAI from stock setup w/ K&N?
Mods are in the sig, basically a 'warm' 383, expected to do 425ish rwhp. I haven't done anything with the air intake system yet. Wondering if the stock setup with a K&N is 'good enough' or if I would see much benefit from a CAI system. Or a new 'elbow' or if it's just a waste of money.
Thanks guys. Any threads to be aware of where there was any head-to-head testing of any setups?

Absolutely LOVE my SLP CAI!!! One of the best mods I have installed, highly recommended! The 2 K&N cone filters sit in the cavity in front of the front driver's side wheel, I even went as far as drilling holes, grid pattern, on the plastic mud guarding! Good luck & enjoy!

Installed my K&N CAI last spring and I couldn't be happier with it. Right away I noticed gains in acceleration and MPG. I also ran an aluminum intake elbow with it because the stock intake gasket was torn all the way across the top. I would highly recommend running a CAI with an elbow. The stock intake gaskets dry rot and tear after a while so you just have to keep replacing them
Get the elbow, it'll pay for itself. Get a CAI, you'll love the gains.

Blake

When I added my Cai, my car was stock except for a Flowmaster muffler. I didn't really notice a power gain, but throttle response felt a little better and my exhaust note changed a bit.

Looks like my options are a K&N FIPK, Lingenfelter, Moroso, or the SLP CAI so far; I have some more looking to do. I've seen Fred's setup, it's sweet, and I understand the principle behind it.
I know my car is not going to be very sleeper-ish with the way it sounds; but I'd like to keep it looking Formula-ish (not to mention, trying to match chameleon blue/green paint).
So, just looking for something bolt-on.
