Will I notice a SOTP differance?

Alright, heres the current list

BBK Shorty Headers
ORY
Borla Cat Back ( open )
160 Degree Stat with Manual Fan Switch

Now I just orderd a 1le elbow, and a Lingenfelter CAI. Will I notice a slight differance opening up the intake like that?

Also, would now be a good time for a Mail Order Tune?

The elbow you wont feel a thing, it MIGHT sound a little different. The CAI you should feel something in the seat of your pants.

any time is fine for a mail order. As long as you're saying bolt-ons that is.

You should see improved ET's, but SOTP is highly overrated. IMO I wouldn't bother w/ a tune until you start doing internal engine stuff.

I doubt you will notice a big difference with the cold air intake. The mail-order tune on the other hand will make a pretty noticable difference.

My car dropped almost 2/10 of et and picked up one and a half mph in the quarter mile, with the addition of a hacked together homemade cai. I couldn't feel a difference though. Like someone stated above, it did sound better.

Good move with the CAI, but I'd rather see you sell the BBK's and get some Longtubes.

Re: Will I notice a SOTP differance?

I'd rather you not call the bbk's mine, they were on the car when I got it. I've thought about going with LT's, but I dont see the hassle/money worth it to a car that already has headers on it... I dont have huge plans for this car, Im 16 years old and just need something fast/cool and reliable that will get me through school. The only reason Im getting the 1le elbow and the Lingenfelter intake is b/c the original owner hacked the **** out of the stock two peices, giving me weird maf readings, and causing the car to run rich.

Re: Will I notice a SOTP differance?

Even though I linked no possession between you and the BBK's, they are on your car, which I believe makes them yours. I understand your situation, in which case I'd just leave them on there and make power another way since it is not cost effective to change them now. 1LE and LPE is a good way to go, I have both parts and the function well. When I swapped in the CAI I didnt really notice a difference, although it was just after I put the Hookers on, so I wasnt used to the car yet. Look into 1.6 RR's, E-WP, and a mial order tune for your next mods. Get all your bolt on mods done before getting the tune, that way you dont have to get another one later to optimize another configuration.

Re: Will I notice a SOTP differance?

there is no difference in the intake elbow and the lt4 intake elbow. they're the same mold minus one step...cutting the bottom hole and inserting the donkey dong. the only difference is the lack of the tube for SILENCE ISSUES ONLY. i'm tired of repeating this over and over...

i think you wasted 70 bucks on that elbow that could have gotten you your own home made phr or lca. but the CAI is worth it if you bought it cheap enough or used.

the tune is what i'd start with immediately after some of the bigger bolt ons like headers or heads...it will significantly help. it could even make big improvements on a stock motor

Re: Will I notice a SOTP differance?

I bought the 1le elbow for 40 bucks used, b/c my stock peice has a gnarly tear in it causing A/F problems. I couldnt even find a stock silancer elbow for 40 bucks shipped...

The lingenfelter cai was 81.11 plus 10 shipping.

I've got tranny problems right now, might have to have a rebuild, new clutch, hydrolics, and other ****, if thats the case the cars just gonna get sold as is, so I'll never really use these parts.. grr

No such thing as a "lt4 intake elbow". You probably mean "1LE".

CAI and a catback was worth 3/10's on my Formula, back in 1994.
