Will a 94 timing set work on my 96??

Will it work with a vented opti??
I also purchased a hotcam out of a 94 so, would I still have to change the dowel pin If I was to get the 94 timing set???

you're gonna have a problem with the timing cover, cam and opti. But, all can be remedied with the timing cover. If you get a 94 style timing cover it will work with the timing gears and chain you have, but you need an unvented opti to work with the 94 Hotcam.

You sir, are a$$ backwards Just Kidding

You would definitely need to check the dowel length and I also think that the early cam gear may not work because the hole in the middle of it is splined for the older opti drive. That hole in the gear may not be big enough for the stub on the vented opti drive to pass through it. IMO, don't mess with using the early timing gears.

Thanx for the replies guys. I'll hold out on the purchase of the timing set.

The hotcam will work, I just have to change the dowel pin to the 96 length.

I guess it's moot now, but the '94 timing cover would also be missing the OBD2 crank position sensor, right?
