wich = more hp on dyno?
On a dyno the cold air will not do much for you cause the car is not moving. While it will still suck air in from the fan infront of the car blowing, I would say that the SS functional hood would be better on a dyno cause the air would blow directly in the vent. That's what I think....it's pretty damn good question.
see thats funny becuase I would think that the CAI would show more on a dyno where a ramair would show more on the open road where you would be getting air ramed into it..LOL but I really have no idea
A CAI is better than ram air on the road. The CAI acts as a suction to draw the air into the intake, and it also takes in more air than a ram air. The ram air only has the little slit in the hood to suck in the air. There have been many debates on whether a CAI is better than a ram air and vis versa.
It really isnt going to be a huge difference. 3-4 hp tops I would guess. Obviously the faster you are going the more air there is blowing into the SS ram air. If you are wondering which you should buy, I say get the cold air intake because it would be waaayyy cheaper than buying the hood and parts needed. But if you already have an SS, stick with it. There will not be much of a difference. Go the cheapest route.
The SS design is pretty poor from the factory, air has to snake around that pipe into the intake. The WS6 design is a straight in design which seems to work better. That being said, your not going to get any sort of "Ram Air" effect until about 180MPH so don't worry about it. There is almost no difference between a good CAI and a ram air setup in most cases
I would have to say CAI is gonna make more power on the dyno as well. A CAI is designed to suck cooler air no matter what speed the car is moving. The Ram Air hood does exactly that, so in order for the air to have velocity, the car has to have velocity as well.
I have seen a few SS hoods up close, and even though they look bad@$$, they don't really seem to generate much air flow. I would much rather have a 4" in cowl hood, which looks even more Bad@$$
