Angry why wont rockers stay adjusted?!?!?!

im having a problem keeping my 1.6 rockers adjusted!! they are the rockers that came in the hotcam kit. this is going to be the 3rd time i am having to adjust them in a few days! i havent even been able to drive the car because of this

i dont understand whats happening. i get all the valves adjusted correctly (using shoebox's page as a guide). then i go outside this morning to start it and everything is PERFECT!! rockers are quiet, exhaust sounds good, no misses or anything.... i let the car idle for a few min. then take her around the block. within a 20 yards the car starts to run like crap!! all i start to hear is all the rockers again, and the cars wants to keep stalling out on me, and i end up with HUGE cam surge!! im sooo tired of doing this! can someone please tell me what im doing wrong? or why they keep backing out?? and yes... i did lock them with the hex bolt.

I had similar issues with my car and it turned out to be a collapsed lifter.

I had a similar problem...after the hotcam install, three of my rockers loosened up and I actually lost a couple rockers b/c of this. Needless to say losing copmression on three cylinders will cause some problems. For the second time around, I just torqued the heck out of the allen screw (bending allen wrench, etc.) and I haven't had any problems. I have heard that a lot of people have had trouble with the GM 1.6 RR locking mechanism, and that the Crane version is better. Oh well, hindsight...

I'd just torque them as hard as you can and see what happens. If that don't work I'd try some new RR's.

Let us know how it goes.

If the tops of your rocker studs are crowned, they won't stay locked. They need to be flat. I'm guessing something else is wrong, though, for it to act up that fast.
