Why won't this gas tank come out????

sorry wasn't sure about that after I typed it. All I know is it was soft/thin gauge metal that would bend easily.

Got it out. Thanks everyone for your excellent,quick, and great advice. We were able to pull tank down without total removal to access and remove pump. Thanks so very much everyone.

I'm glad you go it done.

What I did was pull the tank out by slightly bending the filler neck. Once it was out and drained and clean out (watch for vapor) I then cut the filler neck and put a piece of rubber tubing I got from the hardware store attached with hose clamps. Now it's easy to remove the tank because I just reach into the filler door and undo the clamp, and the thing slides right out.
