Why are there two holes for the outter header bolts?
Just picked up some new FelPro gaskets for my Pacesetter install this weekend and noticed the outside holes were in a different location than my factory gaskets. I just noticed on the heads that there are two holes on each end....My question is simply WHY??
I dont even have my Pacesetters yet but I'm going to assume that the header bolts use the hole on the inside (thats the one the new gaskets line up with). If so, do I have to put studs in the outter holes? Thanks

Headers use different outside bolt holes than the stock manifolds. The headers use the outermost holes and the manifolds use the inside holes or vice versa, I forget which way it is. I use ARP 12-pt 1" underhead length bolts.

Most headers use the closer holes[or have 'slots' there], stock cast manifolds use the outer ones.. and whichever you don't use, leave empty..
Comes in handy when the stock rear bolts break off[good excuse for headers] as both mine were..
A bit of a PITA for finding gaskets tho..
I had to modify mine to get the header bolts in the closer holes[ tho i COULD have used either if the broken bolts weren't in them]
FelPro 1406's if I recall, are for use of the inner holes, and FelPro M595585's are cut for the outers, or stock cast iron manifolds..
