So liquid hot magma doesn't pour through the !TB, making air hotter as it goes into the intake. I think it was dynoed around 8hp.

ws6.com (a good site for real HP tests) got 6rwHP gain by removing the coolant, and the excess heat that comes with it from the throttle body.

ws6.com TB bypass dyno test

Can't think of any good reason for removing the EGR. It only operates at fairly low loads to quench (reduce) combustion chamber temps and the formation of NOx. Never works at WOT, so has no affect on performance.

One less thing on the car to go bad and cause problems. ALso cleans up the engine bay some.

Removing all that stuff that isnt necessary like the EGR and AIR really makes chores a lot easier with all the room that is now available. With our cramped engine bays, it is a lot of room. If our shock towers were similar in size to the third gen's, we'd have so much room we wouldn't know what to do with it. Like someone else said, its one less thing to go wrong too. I got my plates from Steve Monte. Search for EGR block off plates and you'll find the link to his site.

well. one reason to keep erg, might be if you have to deal with a sniffer but thats about the only one. i'm keeping mine when the LTs come in just because i don't trust VA to be sniffer free for long.
