Re: Why the hell is my car still getting hot???

Just curious: Doesn't the PCM turn on the fans---and if so why don't you get a 160 stat and have your pcm programed to turn the fans on as necessary----since waiting to turn on the fans when it appears to be getting hot may be hampering your ability to keep it from overheating to begin with. Just wondering.

Check your hose clamps. I just went through a similar problem and it was a bad factory hose clamp letting air into the system.

Bubba, Its a 160 stat and the fans are wired, so they're always on.....

1997formula - I've already replaced most of them, I'll go through and change the rest.

Re: Why is my car still getting hot???

your old motors head gaskets looked good, in fact they looked like they were replaced at one time.
Is there anything else I should know about this block?
or, Were you feeding me a line of crap there was nothing wrong with it?
How bad did you overheat your old block?
anyway, check you radiator out it might be plugged because the block had all kinds of sludge in it.
make sure your ac condensor is not plugged full of crap
and also, make sure you fans are spinning the right way.
if you are running your stroker on a 350 tune if i am not mistaken you would be super lean, and might be causing you to run hot.

The block i sold you was fine, And it never over heated, it just got hot, like its doing now, The new motor isn't a stroker, just a rebuilt LT1. The fans are going the right way, and I'm gonna pull my radiator out and check it out, bring it down and have it cleaned out or just get a new radiator

Re: Why is my car still getting hot???

does your check engine light work?
it almost sounds like you are in default mode (fans are on all the time).
if you are using a 160 stat and the computer is not tuned for that lower temp. it will not run right.
try a normal stat because if your 160 is open all the time this might be what is causing your problem to running hot.
is your steam line hooked up?
call me if you need a hand this weekend.
