Why is this happening? and not starting?

I just got the car, it started fine when i got it, then i got the opti wet, it dried out, now it's fine again. BUT! now the starter isn't taking the juice from the battery. i have a good 12 volt battery, the starter says it was taking 12, and the wires going there said 0 . so i took the 3 wires off the starter and cleaned the connections and it worked for about a half a day. now it's back to square one. it will barely turn over if that then start clicking like it's a dead battery, but i checked it with a meter, it's not dead. and when it does start, the power gauge for the battery in the car goes all the way down to the bottom and the engine bogs down BIG TIME before it'll do it's slow rumble start. What in the world is wrong? (oh, and when it does start, that's a rare occurance)

There should only be two wires attached to the starter. The positive battery cable and the purple switch wire. Maybe you damaged the starter with water also.

There were three wires, one from the battery, one from the starter to the clutch, and one small one that was bolted on there and i don't know where that came from or goes to. Could my clutch just not have enough power? sometimes the car will start right up like nothing was wrong, but lately it just bogs down and clicks.
