Why does my LT1 do this......
Why does my LT1 do this......
When the engine is cold and you start it up and rev up the engine theres a sort of pop pop pop. It is much more noticable when the engine is reving down. When the engine is at operating temp this does happen although its not quite as noticable. The engine runs very well with no issues at all. I have the Baorla cat-back if that helps. It seems to have done this for many years.
Could this indiacate a problem with somthing.
Just want to know what causes this.

Re: Why does my LT1 do this......
When the engine starts cold, the PCM sets a very rich A/F ratio. Some of the fuel blows out with the exhaust, and burns in the exhaust. If you still have the AIR pump blowing nice fresh air into the exhaust at startup, it makes for a lot of fuel and a lot of air = pop.
Generally, I'd avoid "revving" a cold engine. Not a good idea.

yup, well stated kinda like revving a motorcycle or carburated car with the choke on just alil different its all computer controlled and its always a good idea to let any car warm up before reving, specially performance oriented vehicles, as for the popping its very normal for this "popping" to be heard on Decel, with a good tune from madz28 or similiar this quickly goes away as the overly rich stock settings with boltons tend to create this popping effect,
