Why does an LT1 go Snap, gargle, Pop on decellaration?

My LT1 intermittently goes snap, gargle and pop when decelerating, usually at RPM's over 3K.
It can be very annoying at times and I would like to address the problem if its an easy fix.

Why do these engines do this, is it a mixture issue or maybe timing.
See sig for engine specs.

Also I am running without a catalytic converter and I have the smallest opening plate in my Borla catback which I know exacerbates the problem. However this still happens with closed Borla and a running a cat.

Thanks

I always thought it was normal. Just the exhaust pulses changing length on deceleration.

most likely it's too rich, raw fuel hitting the exhaust pipes making the popping sound.

I think it's just a normal LT1 thing you can't do anything about.

mine did it from day one. still does it 80k later

It has nothing to do with your Air/fuel ratio.

It's not like there's so much gas in the exhaust it's causing an explosion.

When you let off the gas your injectors are cut off leaning you out makeing the exaust pop. Its normal.

Im pretty sure the injectros stop dumipng at under 1500, so think at higher rpm deceleration they are sitll dumping the fuel in the rails.

Decell at any speed and the pulsewith will close. If you have a real time scanner you will see that.

For me it was one of the symptoms of a bad opti.

at least its decellaration instead of acceleration
