why do i have such little oil pressure?

why do i have such little oil pressure?

i just finished my 383 engine i have a new oil pump ..new oil sending unit on top of engine ..i have went to auto zone bought another oil pressure guage set up and ....i mean the engine hasnt ran for 2 minutes total ....it shows no oil pressure but when you rev the engine up it get about 20 to 25 and thats all....im gonna scream

did you put the ball in the galley for the oil pump?

i had a machine shop do the bottom end ....do you have any pics of this ballin the galley ?

The ball is in the galley that goes down from the oil pressure sensor on the back of the block to under the rear main cap.

What kind of clearances are on the bearings and what oil pump is in there? I would lean toward your shop being responsible for any oil pressure problems. Your engine won't live long with poor oil pressure.

yeah i kinda think its the shops fault also since its there oil pump they built the whole bottom end and sealed it

did you put in the 3 oil galley plugs from behind the timing chain? i bet that or the ball plug is your problem.

i have heard so much about the ball thing but i cant find anything about it anywhere a pic a drawing or anything ....where can i find this?

Make sure you have the right pick-up for whatever pan you're using.

As for that ball, I want to say .472", but my memory is a little foggy right now.
