Yes i agree phil has put out some unreal heads, and has the numbers to back it up.

I was just offerning another option.

Dave has a STOCK CAM car, CAI, 373, hooker LTs, and his heads going 12.5 at 110, 350CI.

His LT4 heads have my 4600lb impala running 110 traps.

He also has an 350 a4 that went 12.2 @ 112 on 3.73s, his heads, LTs, and an itty bitty cam. Car should be well into the 11s this year with new tranny, bigger stall, and some other stuff.

Just throwing out some numbers for comparo, trying to give you all some good options.

So right now phil, TEA, and Lloyd Elliot have all be recommended....hmm.

How much are AFR's and much do they flow as is?

With a good set of LT4's I dont think ~290 cfm would be an extremely unreasonable number to look for....
I went with GTP on my new combo, they are AFR 210's. Don't have any track or dyno #'s yet as the motor is still at my engine builders. I went with them just because of there proven factor. I paid a pretty penny, but dought I'll be upset.

I'll second that. I had a set of his heads and going from stock heads to Lloyds ported lt1 casting picked up 50+ rwhp and 40RWTQ with no other changes. He also is very resonablly priced. He charges the least amount cause of his low over head. I think it was a little over $700 for the portwork, cutting for the 2.02/1.6 valves, valve job, decking, cutting for larger spring seats, new valve seals, and flowing them before and after the port work. Of course I supplied the heads, valves, and valve springs. Lloyd will have my buisness from now on.

I've only seen one dyno (Dr. mudge) on Phil's heads. I would like to see/hear a 1/4mile mph.

Matt: I've heard great things about Lloyd, and I am going to take my heads to him and have him fix them/re-work them right after Brett gets them back. One thing about Lloyd...you don't see him advertise on here, and you don't see him brag about anything. Very professional, IMO.

However, this board can make/break/overhype people. A year or two ago GTP and ARE were the gods of all shops, then Pro Performance...

Nick Steel has a dyno out with MAC headers and Phil's heads, 411 RWHP, thats through the full exaust too. He is running an Ultradyne 230/238, he is a SoCal guy and I'm happy he ended up doing so well, the guy that helped him tune it thinks there is more power with more dyno time but who knows, frankly I'm happy for the guy and I'd be happy with that too.

I also agree with Joe's statement, its always nice to have a bigger number than the next guy, but it starts getting very pricey when you look at stock ported heads and going with AFR or LT4s and not getting all that much more out of them. Properly ported, and going with a nicer cam, if well tuned I'm sure someone will eventually make big numbers on the stock bottom, its certainly possible, but when does the money become too much. $1000-$1500 for an extra 40 RWHP? Is it worth it? Hmm.

Here is Nick's dyno
http://66.228.67.107/skarodom/heads/lt1/NS_LT1Dyno.jpg

I made 385 peak TQ, but HP fell flat at 5900 and leveled off, so obviously I was missing some action but never made it back to the dyno after replacing the Opti.

If you don't at least give 'em a call...you're cheating yourself.

Hey 4 door lt4,
What kind of numers are you running in that pig. My 383 Imp went 12.8 on street tires, 3/4 gas tank, 2.0 60' at 110.

The set ups are very close though, same gearing, you got me by a decent amount on the stall(im 2800), and you have a few more cubes. Would be interesting to compare timeslips.

Nothing yet...motor's not in the car yet. Confident it will run mid 11's on the motor, and easy 10's on a little juice. I'll know for sure soon enough, but we're thinking very close to 600hp/TQ at the flywheel.

I would say phil. I have heard nothing but good things about him. He has a set of my heads now just getting a mild port job. I would say the best proof that he is the best is Dr. Mudge and his 410+ rwhp on shortie headers and i stock short block if i remember correctly.
